Road trip questions for couples
A long drive is a few hours with nowhere to be and nothing to look at but the road, which makes it a good place to talk. These 48 cards from the Couplete app are sorted by how much attention they need, from quick ones for the first hour to slower ones for the end of the day.
Everything here can be done out loud. The action cards were picked because they need no hands and no eyes.
Play them as cards
First Dates
What song do you know every single word to?
How to play in the car
- The passenger reads the card aloud and the driver answers first. Then swap.
- Start light. Save the last section for when the playlist has run out and you have settled into the drive.
- If an answer turns into a twenty-minute story, let it. The cards are there to start conversations, so you do not need to get through them all.

Out loud, no hands needed
Things to do rather than answer. The story card uses your answers from the “what if” section.
- Action card: Sing a chorus from a popular song as dramatically as possible.
- Action card: Spin a quick story using three of your hypothetical answers.
- Action card: Each person says two truths and one lie about their hobbies; the other guesses the lie.
- Action card: Plan a hypothetical perfect day together right now, hour by hour. Keep it realistic enough to actually do.
- Finish the sentence: "Thank you for…" — three times, three different things.
- Action card: Take turns: say "I love you because…" back and forth until one of you runs out. Loser makes breakfast.
Last stretch: slower ones
- What is your favorite memory of our relationship so far?
- What was the moment when you realized that you really want us to be together?
- What was the first thing you noticed about me?
- What is your favorite memory of us laughing together?
- If you could pick any memory to re-live once, what would it be?
- What is one thing you want to do with me that we've never done before?
- Which destinations and experiences are on our yearly vacation bucket list?
- What is a place you've been that you'd go back to tomorrow?
- What is a city you have never been to but really want to visit?
- What is something on your bucket list?
- What is a memory of us you replay in your head?
